Laser therapy in Dermatology and Cosmetology

Lasers resurface the skin by emitting light energy. This light energy is extremely specific, allowing it to target damaged skin cells while leaving healthy skin cells untouched. Both medical and aesthetic dermatology rely on laser therapy to achieve their goals. Although not all of the aims of laser treatment in dermatology may be met, laser therapy attracts a lot of interest from the medical and non-medical communities. Currently, laser therapy is employed in four areas: vascular lesions, hair removal, pigmented lesions, and tissue ablation. Newer laser applications include medical conditions such psoriasis, vitiligo, acne, and wound healing.
